Jumla, 32 June
The construction work of Sinjakhola bridge connecting Jumla and Kalikot has not been completed. Even though the slope of the construction work of the bridge has been done, it has become dangerous due to cracking.
The road division office, Surkhet, has admitted that the bridge was cracked during construction. According to Engineer Tularam Sharma of Road Division Office, Surkhet, the concrete bridge of Chidena and Sinja river in Calikot was jointly entrusted with the construction at a cost of 130 million.
Engineer Sharma informed that the bridge of Sinjakhola was cracked while trying to pretest the different technology. Engineer Sharma said that Surya Construction Firm Pvt.
The contract was signed on 30th Kartik 2074. The contract was that the bridge would be completed on 12/14/2075. Due to a problem in the design of the bridge, it had to be redesigned again. This year, the bridge was supposed to be put into operation. He said, 'Chidena's bridge has been completed.'
As this bridge is a bridge of different technology, it will be pulled in 28 days. At the same time it was cracked. Now some problems have arisen and for this an expert team will be brought from India and it will be constructed. A team of Indian engineers will reach Jumla on 6th and 7th July. If it had not been damaged, the car would have run in July, but now it seems that the car will run in December. Grouting has to be done inside the bridge.
According to the road division, the skill team will make a difference as the prestressed bridge is new because there is no composite material. The bridge has been extended three times so far. The construction company said that the bridge could not be completed on time due to redesign and covid. Sinjakhola Bridge is 40 meters long and 11 meters wide. It is said that this bridge will bear a load of 50 tons.
After the construction of the bridge was not completed, the locals were shocked. The Ballybridge Bridge, which was built a long time ago at the same place, has become dilapidated. After the construction of the bridge, the dream of driving a car has been pushed again. After the connection of the road network, a large number of vehicles, freight vehicles and tourists have been entering from Nepalgunj Surkhet, but there is pressure from the locals to build the dilapidated Belybridge bridge as there is a risk that the bridge will not be constructed at the time.
Likewise, Gaurinanda Acharya, head of the District Coordination Committee, and the team of the Federation of Nepali Journalists monitored the bridge on Friday. Acharya, the head of the coordination committee, said that he would coordinate with the relevant agencies regarding the bridge and resume the work soon. Local stakeholders have increased their interest in the bridge issue.
